My mounts
« on: January 22, 2021, 06:41:30 PM »
I?m just getting into taxidermy work and have only done a handful of mounts, mainly for myself, but I plan to start my own shop one of these days. I started out a few years back doing a mouse and a squirrel, and I?m currently working on my first life size mount on a larger animal, a coyote. But I recently mounted a chicken sitting on nest that a family friend wanted me to do for him to sell at a little store he has in Caddo Gap, AR.
The skin around the eyes and earlobe of the chicken were not painted yet in this picture and I forgot to get a picture of it after I finished that.

For some reason the squirrel picture is kinda squished. Let?s see if this works better.

They are very common but there are some taxidermists who do them. I think there?s only one guy who has made the artificial heads.

She was a real sweety, whenever I fed, she would fly up and lite on my shoulder as I walked from one feeder to the next, I dont know why she did that, I never treated any of my hens special other than feeding and watering them, my family and neighbors said I was the animal whisperer....sure am gonna miss that little gal. I once had 20 like her but I'm down to 8 and that red one was hatched by a R.I.Red hen and came out with the same head feathers and black spots...she is eleven yers old and still lays.

Thanks! Sure, if you shoot it, and want me to do it, I would be willing to mount it for you. What part of the state are you in?

Oh wow, we?re in opposite corners of the state, I?m in the Southwest part. I?m sure there are taxidermists closer to you that would do a better job than I could.  74 What I?m trying to say is that my feeling wouldn?t be hurt if you shot it and had someone else mount it. I know if it were me I probably wouldn?t travel all the way across the the state just to get a coyote mounted when there were other options closer. Hope you get him.

Okay, thanks! Just misunderstood what you were meaning. Maybe I can return the favor someday by mounting something for you for free.
